Code Cracking: En+

In a recent lesson, a student and I talked about English words with the prefix "en-."
From the ancient Latin, "en" means "in" or "within." When we see this prefix in an English word, we can also say that "en" means to add something, to give something, to put in something.
Examples:
  1. Encourage. I like to think that this word means: To give words of courage to someone.
  2. Energy. Because "ergos" means activity, movement, or work, like to put "en" + "erg" together to = Give or add activity or movement.
Much of English is a code game. :-)
