¡Feliz día del animal! / Happy animal day!
5 years ago Today, April 29, we celebrate in Argentina the "Animal Day".
This celebration began in 1908 proposed by Doctor Ignacio Albarracín. His sources of inspiration were: "Bird Day" that was established in the late nineteenth century in some cities of the United States at the initiative of a teacher with the purpose of promoting knowledge and good feelings towards animals among children. The other antecedent was the Animal Sunday, that began to be celebrated in the English protestant temples from 1905.
Dr. Albarracín, in addition to being one of the founders of the Argentine Animal Protective Society, is the one who proposed and promoted the National Animal Protection Law (N ° 2786) in which it was established, for the first time in Argentine history, the obligation to provide protection to animals, preventing their mistreatment and hunting.
Interesting fact: Dr. Albarracín's death date was in 1926 and coincided with that same day, April 29.
So, if you have a "furry friend" or a "friend four legs" near you, you can hug him, say "Happy day" and give him/her a double ration of food, just for today haha. ❤️
