Recording lessons - Am I doing something wrong?

I recently enabled recording of my lessons. I have a student who is practicing IELTS speaking, and I wanted him to be able to record the lesson so he could listen back and analyse his speaking performance. On the first occasion, I was using a headset with a microphone. The lesson recorded, but only my voice came out in the recording.
In the next lesson, I tried to record a snippet, and I received the same results - only my voice and not his. I tried with the computer microphone and speakers, but it still didn't pick up the student's voice.
Does anyone know If the recording tool is limited to recording the teacher only? Or, am I doing something wrong with the setting it up?
