The Italian modal verbs

VOLERE (want), POTERE (can / be able to) and DOVERE (must / have to) are called "verbi servili" or "verbi modali" (modal verbs).

We use them with another verb in the infinitive form.

For example:

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Non voglio studiare.
๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ I don't want to study.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Posso entrare?
๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Can I come in?

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Devi mangiare.
๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ You have to eat.
