5년 전Los tiempos verbales (verb tenses) reflejan la línea temporal (presente, pasado, futuro) expresada por el hablante (speaker).
Los tiempos verbales en el modo indicativo pueden ser absolutos o relativos:
Son absolutos cuando el hablante expresa el tiempo verbal en el momento de la enunciación.
Son relativos cuando el tiempo verbal usado está en relación con el tiempo absoluto. Los tiempos relativos pueden expresarse como un tiempo absoluto.
El PRETÉRITO IMPERFECTO O COPRETÉRITO es un tiempo verbal relativo:
Me dijo (pretérito) que venía (copretérito) hoy. S/he told me s/he came/was coming today.
