Referring to yourself in the third person!

Does anyone ever talk about themselves using the third person? In the UK, we are led to believe that the Queen may refer to herself as 'one' or 'oneself' and some people in official positions might use the third person when referring to their positions. Can anyone come up with a situation when you are likely to need or want to use the third person to talk about yourself?
