Hi there! My name is Dunia. I was raised in New York where I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree of Liberal Arts and Science with a specialization in Spanish Literature. What makes my classes unique is that my main goal is to create a student-teacher bond through a friendly environment. For example, I have held in-person lessons with those loyal students who decided to visit Argentina, where I currently live. Also, I tailor my lessons to your specific needs, add a good measure of humor, and I can adjust quickly to your learning pace. Since I was born in Guatemala, I can relate easily with those looking to learn Spanish with a more neutral accent or those who would like to be more familiar with the Central and South American culture.
I’m resourceful and have more than eight years of experience teaching professional adults, adolescents and children. Some of my experience includes developing the Spanish curriculum for South China Normal University Middle School. Therefore, my lessons are very well planned. I use PowerPoint presentations with great illustrations, interactive exercises, flashcards, e-books. Moreover, daily grammar drills, homework and quizzes will help you keep track of your progress.
In class we practice conversation from day one. I understand firsthand the struggles of learning a new language since I am learning Mandarin as a third language. I am enthusiastic about teaching. It is a privilege to help others understand a new group of people through their culture, food, customs, music and understanding of the world.
