I am a new teacher on this platform but I have over 3000 hours' experience as an online teacher on other platforms.
My name is Chris and I live in the UK. Here are some facts about me that aren't in the presentational video:
I grew up as a bilingual having learned English at birth and going to school in French. At the age of 8, I started to learn Dutch and continued doing so until I left secondary education at 18.
At university I spent 6 years studying English and German. I studied Linguistics and Literature for my Masters, then did an extra year to earn my degree in teaching. After university I did a handful of TEFL certificates to broaden my knowledge of teaching.
I have taught over 3000 hours online on various platforms. My students contact me from all corners of the world and come from all walks of life. I have taught business people, school children and people learning a language as a hobby.
I teach a lot of French people who are learning English. I also teach English speaking people who learn French. I find this quite interesting to do as I am in a position of understanding where the mistakes come from due to my bilingual abilities.
I usually offer conversation practice during my lessons, during which time I make notes of the errors that I hear. After the lesson I share these errors with the student. I have a website (Moodle) on which I store my grammar exercises. I also have PDF documents that contain exercises.
I am always very happy to welcome beginners so please don't be shy !
