Hi everyone!
I'm Harry, I'm from the UK but living in Mexico, with a TEFL certification and a year and a half experience teaching all levels and ages of english, INCLUDING IELTS. My number one approach is that language learning has to be fun!
Let me start with a story. When I arrived in Mexico, I did not speak a word of spanish. I thought "I'm going to be immersed in the language, maybe 3-5 months and I'll be fluent."
That thought makes me laugh now. After 5 months I had met my girlfriend, who was already bilingual, and taken some classes and bought some books on conjugation. And STILL didn't speak anything.
What was wrong?
I was giving classes in english, and all my friends spoke english. I didn't have to speak spanish at all if I didn't want to. I was stuck.
One year later and I understand everything except some slang, I live with 6 mexican students and go to parties with my girlfriend and speak spanish the entire night, without a heavy foreign accent, and most importantly I ENJOY my time a lot more.
So what changed for me?
I came across 2 things, 2 pillars of language learning, which genuinely changed my life.
1 A system to memorize any words or grammar you choose
2 Enjoyable exposure to the language
These may sound simple but if you don't have at least one or both of these things working in your favour you will struggle.
My teaching methods focus on using these pillars to help you have fun with and overcome whatever language challenges you may have, from learning your first words to taking the IELTs exam to get your visa to move to an english speaking country such as Australia, Canada or the UK.
