I am part artist, part entertainer and teacher all rolled into one. I see my purpose as co-creator with my students
I teach English in a way that it is useful for everyday situations and purposes related to the student’s social life, work and leisure. My underlining reason is that learning a language is more rewarding and effective when language is used for authentic communication. When students are presented with natural and useful language more learning takes place. It is my belief that students bring with them a wealth of experiences, knowledge, ideas and opinions. I present opportunities for them to utilize these so that language becomes personalized, relevant and meaningful.
Within a positive, rewarding and affirming atmosphere students learn to experience times of success and failure. My classes are where ‘risk’ and a willingness to experiment with the language is affirmed. Students have the knowledge that they can be free to make mistakes.
I hold a Master of Arts in teaching English as a foreign language. I have taught five years English language in Saudi Arabia at the secondary level in a vocational environment. I have taught English lauguage at the university level in South Korea and the United States (community college). Additionally I have taught children ESL in the primary context.
