I studied English literature at Roger Williams Universityand graduated in 2015 with a BFA, I was Celta certified in New York City and UNICA trained in Bogotá, Colombia. I have two years of experience teaching teenage students here in Cartagena and I have been giving private lessons to adults for one year. My teaching methods are tailored to the individual needs of the student. My default style is fun, activity based lessons beginning with receptive skills such as reading or listening and ending with production skills, usually in the form of a project, script, poster, speech, or just having the student produce something to show for their work and excercise the skills that they learned. Additionally I have given purely conversational classes to adults at varied levels and I have even helped with test prep for the APTIS and ICFES exams. Learning a second language is an enjoyable experience that requires concentration and work, so I do my best to keep lessons fun and interesting, as well as age and level- appropriate.
