Hi there! My name is Emily and I am from the United States. I am currently living in Boulder, Colorado where I am getting my degree at the University of Colorado. I have been teaching English for almost a year now. I taught English in Arequipa, Peru at a private language institute (Extreme Learning Center) as well as tutored private students. I taught all ages levels but specialized in teaching adults. Before teaching in Peru, I volunteered in Colombia teaching English and Cambodia teaching English to children. For over 6 months I have taught English online to students all over the world. I have taught through a Japanese company called Bibo, a Chinese company called 31ABC, and have taught a multitude of different students here on Verbaling. Through this experience, I have learned to properly structure an online class. I completed my TEFL and TESOL certification (120 hours in person) and graduated as valedictorian of my class, receiving the highest overall score for both student teachings and for overall exam scores. My style is an interactive style which focuses on getting the student to talk as much as possible (in English of course!). I will structure the class around the students skill level and goals for learning English. What I have found works very well from my own experiences is teaching a grammar/vocabulary lesson for half of the class and then putting what the student has learned to use through talking and other hands-on activities. I also provide the option of just a speaking/writing class, in which we focus on improving the students conversational and writing skills. I am patient with my students and understand the struggles of learning a language, as I am currently learning one myself (Spanish!). I have worked with all ages. I teach a children's class and classes with ages ranging from 14 - 50. I have experience teaching low-level English classes and advanced English classes.
