I am Federica, born and raised in Rome. I am keen on travelling, photography and reading; I can define myself as an eclectic and dynamic person.
I am a qualified Italian teacher: I hold a DITALS certification to teach Italian to foreign people. During the last years, I have experienced different teaching settings: online lessons, private tutoring and classroom. I am specialized in teaching Italian to adults with different levels of knowledge (beginner to proficient).
The roots of my educational background are in high school. For five years, I studied classical subjects like Latin and ancient Greek, History and Philosophy. Italian, Latin and Greek Literature plus History of Art were the focus of my secondary studies. I then graduated with distinctions in Social Anthropology at Sapienza, University of Rome.
As a student, I know how much can be challenging learning a new language. As a teacher, I developed effective tools to overcome these difficulties.
The starting point of my lessons are my students: their motivations and needs. I adopt a communicative approach, which involves speaking and listening since the first lessons. I prefer teaching grammar through an inductive method and I give space to the four abilities of the language (Speaking, Writing, Listening and Reading). I carefully select the material I use: the Italian should be authentic and suitable to the level of my students. The conversations that I conduct are structured and their topics are adapted to the necessity of each students and based on their level of Italian.
