Hello! My name is Jefferson. I have had several careers in my life including newspaper pressman, photographer, soap maker, sales manager, personal coach, shop keeper, and yes, English teacher! Now I am retired and teaching online.
I became an English teacher when I moved to Ecuador from the United States back in 2006. I was a North American in a Spanish speaking country and I needed to work. Over the years I taught at various institutions including high schools, colleges, government agencies and private language schools. Toward the end of my teaching career, I focused on private lessons with various professionals.
My hobbies include playing guitar, reading and commenting on political and economic news, and studying and living a stoic lifestyle.
I am happily married and have three adult children. During the year I split my time between the US and Ecuador.
I have a degree in Business Administration from a US university. I am TEFL certified and a Certified Professional Coach.
My primary teaching focus is on conversational English, both listening and speaking. I work best with intermediate and advanced students, B1-C2, but will consider level A2 as well. Through guided practice I can help you increase your conversational and language skills with useful phrases, common idioms and foundational grammar points. These skills can be tailored to your specific needs, whether it’s everyday English, business English or exam preparation, or for whatever your personal needs or goals may be.
I also have a background in proofreading and copy editing. Maybe you want to write clear copy for your web page; maybe you need to send a critical email to your boss or client; or perhaps you must produce a well-written essay. If you need practice, specific help or direction with your written English, I can tailor lessons for you. Please understand, though, that I do not do the writing for you!
I look forward to working with you in your effort to become fluent in English and experience the world! Sign-up for a lesson today!
