Is it advise or advice? Should I use complement versus compliment? You have come across them. They are words that sound exactly the same, but are spelled differently and they have different meanings. These words are called homonyms. The context will sometimes help you understand which word is appropriate, but you still need to know how to spell the word. Both native English speakers and non-native English learners have made these silly mistakes. These words show up in the reading and writing sections of the ACTs, SATs, IELTS, and TOEFL exams. And yes, you do lose points when you use the wrong word.
You may also be in a business setting and where you need to write emails or letters to your business investors. You may need to write cover letters if you are searching for that job. In all these circumstances the wrong word usage may cost you a job prospect or a business deal. Remember that spell checks do not usually catch these types of wrong word usage errors.
Whatever your English needs are, I am available to teach you techniques that will help you avoid costly mistakes. Feel free to review my schedule availability and select dates and times that are best for you.
