Merhaba!
About me:
I was born in Istanbul in 1983. I started teaching Turkish while studying Turkish Language and Literature at university. I worked in a language school and at universities, and I suppose I gained success. 😀 I have been teaching Turkish professionally for 14 years. I also taught Turkish for 4 years when I was a university student.
I learned Ottoman Turkish at the university, so I'm familiar with Persian and Arabic vocabulary. I also studied Persian, German, and Italian grammar.
I completed my master's degree in Ottoman history and spent a semester as an Erasmus student at the Turkish Studies Department of Leiden University.
I am interested in literature, cinema and TV series (nowadays Korean).
Me as a Teacher:
I hold firm to two main principles: providing a comfortable environment and creating an encouraging atmosphere.
My students always tell me that I am patient, positive and well-organized. I consider I developed an aptitude for making learning Turkish much easier, more efficient and more practical.
My professionalism also allows me to tailor language education according to individual interests, needs, and capacities. I use a book prepared by a university in Turkey.
You will not hesitate to make mistakes. After a while, you will realize your mistakes and start to correct yourself.
Do you think that learning Turkish isn't easy? By progressing systematically in your learning journey, you will not feel the difficulties and will enjoy it.
My lessons & teaching style:
Even though I use a communicative approach, my lessons are supported by a solid knowledge of grammar because Turkish has a very different structure.
I use a book set that Istanbul University prepares. The course book is structured with a strategic approach to learning Turkish by using all the language skills: reading, grammar, writing, listening, watching, and speaking from A1 to C2. All these skills are essential for conversation.
I will give you tips on how to study Turkish, so you can work more effectively and learn Turkish well.
The workbook includes many exercises for homework or revision. I support the book with my authentic materials. I use a board that you can see anytime and you can edit it, too.
I will share all the materials (books, audio, videos, authentic materials) with you according to your level.
Repetition-based speaking practice plays an important role in my lessons.
Notes:
There are 5 levels in total in Turkish: A1-A2 level (basic), B1-B2 level (intermediate), C1+ (advanced).
You could complete all levels 2.5 times faster by having private lessons compared to group lessons.
