My name is Jodi. I live in England, just south of London, and am a Geophysics graduate. I have around 5 years of 1-on-1 science tutoring experience and have been teaching English for one year. I am TEFL qualified.
I prefer to take a relaxed and informal approach to teaching, whilst keeping my lessons structured and professional. In my experience as a language learner, one of the best ways to learn a language is to immerse yourself in it. I aim to bring this to my lessons, and allow my students to practise and improve their English through authentic conversations and fun activities. I like to work on all aspects of English, including pronunciation, grammar and English skills.
My experience as a tutor has taught me the importance of tailoring lessons to the learning methods of each student. For example, you might be a very methodical learner, who excels with a knowledge of rules and patterns in the English language. Alternatively, you might be an auditory learner, who picks things up very quickly just through hearing them. In our first class together we will discuss your motivations for learning English, and I will try to understand what type of a learner you are. I can then prepare out lessons with a range of activities that work for you!
I am currently learning Spanish myself, so I truly understand the frustrations and difficulties language-learners face when learning a new language, and some of the best ways to work through them. Whether you want to improve your conversational English or are preparing for an exam of job interview, I can help you to work towards your English-speaking goals. Please do get in touch if you have any questions or comments!
