My name is Carmella, and I am a TESOL/TEFL Certified Native English Instructor from the United States. I have taught English as a Foreign Language domestically (United States), and internationally (Europe and Asia), for 12 years. My experiences have been at universities, private companies, and at public elementary schools. It has been a variety of levels from novice to advanced. I am a skilled language teacher with a Masters in TESOL, (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and an International TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Certificate.

Currently employed as an English Language Learner Teacher. Job duties include creating lesson plans and supplemental activities, providing instruction of English Language Acquisition to ELL students, assessing the students on a regular basis, creating progress reports, working collaboratively with their classroom teachers, working closely with the ELL coordinator, and attending ELL meetings.

English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Non-Credit Lecturer
Clarion University - Clarion, Pennsylvania, USA
Employed as the first EFL Non-Credit Lecturer at Clarion University. The job required teaching 14 hours of English as a Foreign Language to Saudi Arabian students who were “Absolute Beginners.” One’s primary responsibility was to build the students’ knowledge of English by teaching grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, and listening skills. The teaching technique involved teaching grammar through speaking and writing. The textbook Side by Side Level 1 for beginners and other supplemental activities were utilized.

As an EFL instructor, job duties included: re-designing the class syllabi, creating lesson plans, instructing Beginner/Level 1 English to a total of 25 or more Korean university students, and collaborating with faculty members to create assessment tools utilized by all Beginner/Level 1 English Instructors. As a Student Advisor, job duties included counseling Korean students for future job opportunities in domestic or international companies, answering questions with travelling abroad, and helping them join social networks with Native Speakers of English.

In the mornings, the job involved teaching Science, Math, English, and History to multilingual, Korean Kindergarten students who possessed an intermediate to advanced knowledge of English. In the evenings, the job involved teaching EFL to students of various ages with limited knowledge of English. The job also included communicating with parents and co-workers (with limited English) to discuss students’ needs and progress. In addition, public presentations were given to parents on a monthly basis. It was my duty to design and coordinate all presentations given to parents for myself and co-workers.

There were also meetings to discuss improvement of teacher prac-tice, student evaluations, and teacher evaluations.
