My name is Michelle. I am a native English speaker from California. I live in Humboldt County with my husband and daughter. I have been teaching English and working with students from all over the world for the past 20 years. I have an MATESOL and have taught all aspects of English from basic survival skills to academic English and TOFEL prep classes. I have a relaxed approach to teaching in the sense that I like to have fun and work with materials that are both interesting and relevant to my student's interests. I teach a lot about American culture, expressions with idioms, and pronunciation, as well as the core subjects of reading, writing & composition, grammar, listening, and speaking. I love finishing a lesson with and American joke or riddle based on English grammar for my students to figure out and try to understand for our next lesson. English is a quirky language, but with effort, patience, and a little fun, we can learn a lot. I look forward to meeting you!
