My name is Paige and I am a TEFL/TESOL-certified native English instructor originally from the U.S. and currently living in Europe. I've been teaching, training other trainers, and capacity-building teams and individuals of all ages in several different countries for over 15yrs. I've taught ESL for over 3yrs to people from every continent - business professionals, government officials, families, refugees and students. I specialize in English Grammar, Colloquial Usage, Business English, Employment preparation and English for Academic Purposes. I can help you improve your speaking, writing and pronunciation for any general or specialized English goals (and help you improve your self-confidence in doing so!).
English has become a global language and to learn it and use it is a means of breaking down barriers worldwide - to foster relationships, opportunity, understanding and connection between human beings. That's why I do this.
My Masters degree is in Global Health and Research (particularly in infectious disease, violence and mental health) and I've published several articles in scientific journals as well, so I'm happy to offer guidance on any professional or academic endeavors you might be seeking out or any multinational team-building. I've traveled to 30 countries and have lived in 7 of them. I truly enjoy people and exchanging cultures and ideas (and food!).
In my classes you'll be challenged and you'll talk a lot. I'm patient, encourage mistakes, and believe learning is best done through real life, real humor and real materials whenever possible. You will learn, and then most importantly, you will practice actually using it. I tailor each lesson to your specific needs and goals, balancing grammar, vocabulary, listening and structured conversation. If you expect to improve your English then you should plan on taking notes, practicing and even doing some homework. We'll go over any homework assignments together, discussing corrections so that you can learn by doing. My experience learning French and also a remote African language means that I can certainly empathize with the challenges language learning can present and I look forward to us collaborating soon!
