My name is Guillaume. I’m French and I come from Bretagne, west of France. In my childhood I lived in a lot of countries (USA, Africa) and I have been living in Budapest, Hungary, for 20 years. I’ve been teaching French at the Corvinus University of Budapest since 2009. At the university I teach to advanced Hungarian students but I also teach beginners from various nationalities (Chinese, Russian, Mexicans, Americans, etc.). Beside my work as a French teacher at Corvinus I’ve also been a private French teacher for more than 15 years. As a private French teacher I gained a vast experience in teaching to very different students, all levels, all types of classes, all ages. Concerning my teaching methods I would say it really depends on the needs and expectations of my students. I will use a different method if my student wants to learn French for professional reasons, for an exam or even just for pleasure of learning a new language. I will also adapt to the difficulties my students might have, some people have trouble with pronunciation, some others with grammar or French spelling. I would describe myself as patient, flexible and ready to adapt to the needs of my students.

Bonjour tout le monde! Hello everyone! I'm Matthias! I'm a native French from Paris, France and I currently live in the Philippines. I'm a qualified and experienced French Teacher since 2009. After completing my Master degree of Social Studies and International Development from la Sorbonne University in Paris, France, in 2006, I started working for Educational NGO's based in the Philippines. Then in 2009, I specialized as a French Teacher for different public and private language schools in the Philippines including Montessori School and Alliance Française. My classes were composed of very large audiences: from young kids to professionals. I taught French through various learning levels from A1 to C1. I also handled online and conversational classes on regular basis with multicultural groups. I had in charge several 1 to 1 tutorials from A1 to C1 levels. Besides, I carried out French workshops for Filipino high school principals under the Department of Education in the Philippines. In addition, I conducted multiple preparations and trainings of applicants for the official DELF and TEF standardized exams. Simultaneously, I have been teaching French at different popular Universities in the Philippines from 2012 until now. Finally, I also got the opportunity to work as an English French interpreter for the French Prime Minister Security Group in 2012. All of these experiences have given me the opportunity to develop lesson plans on a wide range of topics and levels. I am highly skilled at customizing my teaching methods to the needs of my students with flexibility and effectiveness. They will be learning French through various practical challenges and speaking activities focused on the grammar, the vocabulary, the pronunciation and the cultural aspects of the language. Step by step we will then be able to reach a new level and set new goals. Indeed I believe the most effective way to study and learn a language is basically to speak it. I love teaching French and I love sharing my experience, learnings and culture with my students. So lets start making a plan for you! CLASSES POLICY: Please understand that I only allow only 2 classes with last-minute cancellations (less than 24h prior to the lesson). Beyond that I wouldn't be able to continue classes with that student. Indeed, please understand that last-minute cancellations are harmful for the teacher as we don't have enough time to find another student for the time slot initially booked. Beside if ever a student is late beyond 30 mins for a prebooked session, the session will automatically be considered as completed and the teacher won't be required to maintain the session open after waiting 30 mins. Thank you for your understanding and happy learning! :)

Bio: Caroline Mosser is an educator, translator, writer and independent scholar. She has lived and worked in both France and the United States, and is looking forward to more adventures. After earning her Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of South Carolina, she has taught French as a postdoctoral fellow at Utah State University. As a graduate student, she participated in and taught for the competitive Social Advocacy and Ethical Life scholarship program at USC. Having always been fascinated by both the sciences and the humanities, she has focused her work on their connection through the study of the representations of science and technology in popular culture. A life-long learner, she enjoys sharing her knowledge through teaching and participating in various academic and cultural projects (such as translating, interpreting, and editing). In her free time, she enjoys watching science fiction movies and TV shows as well as skating and hiking to make up for her cooking Teaching philosophy: Throughout my academic career, I have been teaching courses in French and English and am comfortable with both languages. I present myself as a mentor to students. Because I believe that teaching is a collaboration between instructor and students, I include open-ended assignment in which they explore their own interest and how it relates to our class. In a basic French-language course, I focus on creating a safe environment where students feel comfortable to participate. Being a native speaker of French, I use my experience of learning English to relate to my students and build a two-way conversation. I tell them on the first day of class that they can correct my English. Students have reacted positively and tend to feel more comfortable expressing their difficulties. I also privilege positive feedback, using an informative rather than corrective feedback policy, and metalinguistic feedback allowing students to figure out their mistake. As a facilitator, I use mostly French in order to build students’ ability to understand the language through contextual clues. I use cultural or personal artifacts to provide visual clues and authentic examples. For instance, when teaching about food, I use menus from French restaurants, asking what they would like to order, which ingredients they expect to find, leading to a discussion comparing what is offered in their favorite restaurants and what they would recommend. In the case of a higher level French-language class, I privilege contemporary material because it is more relevant to students as they include structures and vocabulary likely to be encountered outside of the classroom. Students reflect on language as form and meaning in context and finally, produce their own texts. Doing so allows me to start a discussion on how ideas can be represented differently. It allows us to discuss how meaning can take many forms. Language and literature courses are often criticized for not being practical or for being too focused on textbooks. I disagree. These courses are windows to a world of possibilities and it is my responsibility to make sure that students are able and willing to open them.
