Hello and thank you for considering me to help you reach your English language goals!

I'm an American-Canadian teacher (dual-citizen) with over ten years of experience teaching English to a wide range of students from around the world, but I'm new to Verbling so I'm offering a discounted rate a short time :)

I am passionate about my work and I believe that language learning should be enjoyable and engaging. I feel that a comfortable learning environment is important for building language skills and confidence and so my teaching style is relaxed, patient and engaging, but I will also correct mistakes and help you reach that next level.

I currently teach adults who are of intermediate-advanced level and my classes are usually conversation-based. I believe that a natural, fluency-focused approach is the most effective way to improve English ability. My classes are therefore not lecture or curriculum-based, but we will discuss grammar, pronunciation, idioms and vocabulary throughout the lesson and I can send you corrections after each lesson for you to practice if you wish. I also feel it's important to recognise that each student's learning style and aims are different and so I am happy to work with you to create lessons suited to your own personal goals and interests. For example, if you are worried about an upcoming interview or a conversation with a colleague, I will play the role of the employer or colleague and we will practice until you feel confident with it. I am also happy to help you with editing, preparing presentations or answering any questions you might have from other material you are learning from.

A little bit about me: I love to learn about other cultures and I have lived in over seven different countries and traveled extensively around Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North America. I'm currently studying philosophy in London and I love reading, writing, music, art, yoga and meeting new people. I really enjoy learning about my students as well - their interests and culture - and helping each individual reach their goals and dreams!
