I'm Shaun. I've been teaching English for 10 years now; more than eight of those online. I live in Uruguay in South America - I moved here in 2012, after growing up in the UK. So as you'll hear in my video, I'm a native speaker from London.
I have a TESOL qualification from Trinity College, London; a Master's degree from the London School of Economics; and a Bachelor's degree from the University of East Anglia. But most importantly: I have a huge amount of experience in teaching students of all ages online: over Skype, Google Hangouts or Zoom.
What can you expect from a class or course with me? Well - you might want to prepare for an exam in Cambridge Proficiency (CPE), First Certificate of English (FCE), Preliminary English Test (PET); the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); or Business English (BEC) Higher, Vantage or Preliminary. I've prepared hundreds of students for these exams; their results were excellent, because online teaching enabled me to focus on their individual needs and learning styles. All students' needs and ways of learning are different, so I will always tailor my teaching to your exact requirements.
Alternatively, you might choose Business English classes. I've taught a huge number of professionals either in-company or online: from surgeons to politicians, accountants to architects, constructors to models. Here, classes will focus on the specific language you want to learn and master; building your spoken fluency and listening abilities; on preparing PowerPoint presentations or for a vital job interview. As well as a teacher, I'm a professional editor, so I can help you work on your CV/resume or application form too.
I also teach groups online - but whether as part of a group or one-to-one, you might instead opt for conversation classes. These are a great, fun way of boosting your confidence and, if in a group, interacting with other English learners too. In these classes, what I will do is provoke your thoughts. I use lots of videos (often from YouTube) and images with the aim of making you think, express your opinions, and especially, opening up your creativity in English. Apart from past papers for exam preparation, I don't use textbooks, as I think they're boring and old-fashioned. Instead, the goal is to get you picturing things in English: because that's how babies learn their native language so perfectly. All you need to bring to my classes is a sense of humour and an active imagination!
If I have one guiding view of teaching, it's that I believe we all learn so much better and quicker if we have fun while doing so. That's what my classes are about: having fun but learning lots at the same time. So why not watch my video right now? If you like what you see, I'd love to hear from you.
Enjoy your learning on Verbling, and have a great day!
PS. One other thing you should know about me. I LOVE football! So if you want to talk about football in English, I promise you I'm the man to choose. :)
