Ciao a tutti!
My name is Stella, I am an experienced Italian teacher and I offer classes to all levels of learners.
Let me introduce myself: originally from Verona, I've lived in different Italian cities and abroad in the past few years. In fact, I love to travel and to discover new places, this is why I am currently living in Melbourne, Australia!
I am an open minded person, curious and highly dedicated to others. I love my country, but I believe that knowing different people and cultures is the best way to understand the inter-connected world of today.
Therefore, I love discussing cultural topics with my students and learning a bit more about their countries and backgrounds.
I have been teaching Italian to non-native speakers for the past four years, and I absolutely love it.
I have had experiences with different kids of students: young professionals, asylum seekers, teenagers, and toddlers, and I've always put mutual understanding and agreement at the core of our study program.
As for my studies, I completed my academic training at the University of Venice with a Master Degree in Teaching Italian to Non-Native Speakers. Therefore, I have a good knowledge of the theoretical basis underpinning it and I can create study programs based on verified didactic theories.
My lessons mostly aim at making learners feel confident with the language, whether it is for talking to an Italian "barista", or writing a work paper.
Therefore, I always try to create programs that respond to my students' needs, both in terms of content and methods. According to one's aptitude, we can incorporate more technological tools in our lessons, such as applications to memorize vocabulary, or online tests. On the contrary, we can also stick to more traditional learning tools, like printable worksheets or textbooks.
I like using images, videos and (why not) songs to stimulate conversation and language comprehension, as well as to give my students a taste of Italy and its culture.
