Hello everyone, my name is Carl and I was born in Canada. I have a passion for teaching, and believe teaching like learning should be fun to get the most out of it. I focus on Pronunciation using Phonetics (what does it sound like). Most of my students struggle, because they are still using their native sounds while speaking English, which is why they usually have a strong accent. In my classes we keep it simple and go back to basics, discussing the sounds that each letter of the English Alphabet make, it’s Vowels and Consonants, and then moving on to Syllables and how that changes the Intonation of their speaking. Hey! Thanks for checking out my profile. Below you’ll find some information about me and what to expect in a lesson, but first you should know that right now I only work with upper intermediate and advanced level students, especially those who want to work on professional, academic, or business writing and communication. Over the years, I’ve worked extensively as a teacher-editor, and it is in this area that I can best serve my students. My goal is not only to help students with their current writing projects from emails to dissertations but also to guide students towards becoming better English writers on their own. In a typical lesson, we will read your writing together, and I’ll correct any mistakes as well as offer suggestions and explanations in places where the writing could be made better. One of the most important things I do is give feedback. My goals when doing this are to be kind and encouraging, but also honest and helpful. I understand what it’s like to be nervous ...

Are you tired of having to repeat yourself because others don’t understand you? For the last 20 years I have been involved with international students at high school and university levels. My work has given me a lot of experience in communicating with students and families whose first language is not English. My lessons will always be based on the student's present level and interest. I like to use written examples to help students develop skills in speaking and listening. My personal interests are sports, history, politics, travel, psychology, sociology, academic planning, human relations and personal development.
