And then they come to language training wondering why their English feels flat. Here's what I notice: the problem isn't the English. It's that they stopped being curious about people a long time ago. You can't learn a language if you don't care what anyone has to say. You can't improve communication if you've trained yourself to only engage when there's something to win. Grammar won't fix that.
