*Back in the UK. My name is Tom and I grew up in and around London, England. I am a native English teacher with 4 years teaching experience. I studied at Imperial College London in South Kensington and have spent a lot of time exploring the city. From the parks and museums nearby to many of London’s other neighbourhoods and attractions. I have a degree in Geophysics and now employ my scientific mind to language teaching. I teach in a way that is effective, efficient and modern. I have a 160 hour TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate and teach private classes in person as well as online. In addition, I am currently undertaking a master’s degree in Cognitive and Decision Sciences within the Psychology & Language Sciences department at UCL. My classes follow a structure that emphasises building on what we know and having clear goals. Classes will vary from student to student. Depending on what is required and in what time frame they are structured accordingly....
I have been teaching for over ten years, and achieved my second TEFL qualification in 2007. I have since taken other courses and seminars to develop myself as a better ESL teacher I believe classes should be an enjoyable time for both teacher and student to enable the best learning environment. I keep my passion alive for teaching by constantly looking for new and fun material for classes. I am also a language learner, of Spanish, so I understand and empathise with doubts, fears and barriers in speaking in a second language. I believe its important to correct my students mistakes while also allowing fluency and confidence to grow I adapt each class to what the student wants and what they need in their language learning process. I am both patient and encouraging, and have a good sense of humor, all of which make classes a safe, comfortable and fun place to practice and improve English
