AUTUMN BUCKET LIST - DAY 18 AND 19

5 anni fa

ASCOLTA UNA CANZONE NUOVA

Listen to a new song

ASCOLTARE is the inward action of capturing sounds from the ouside (through ears), but is much more then just HEARING (SENTIRE): it's the ability of paying attention to it in a way that what we have heard changes us in the inside. And that's what music should do, in my opinion. We do not just hear sounds and words, we actually LISTENT TO A SONG (ASCOLTARE UNA CANZONE).

Please, notice the difference between the English and the Italian verb:

in English --> verb TO LISTEN TO (with preposition)
in Italian --> verb ASCOLTARE (with no preposition but with a direct object!)

Present tense
IO ASCOLTO
TU ASCOLTI
LUI/LEI ASCOLTA
NOI ASCOLTIAMO
VOI ASCOLTATE
LORO ASCOLTANO

Imperative tense
ASCOLTA (TU)
ASCOLTATE (VOI)

MANGIA UNA MELA CON LA CANNELLA

Eat an apple with cinnamon

"One apple a day keeps the doctor away" is an idiom that we also use in Italian language and it sounds like this: UNA MELA AL GIORNO LEVA IL MEDICO DI TORNO :-D
That's why I think that MANGIARE UNA MELA (to eat an apple) is a good way to start my day...and eating an apple with cinnamon is a perfect way to start an autumn day!!!

Present tense
IO MANGIO
TU MANGI
LUI/LEI MANGIA
NOI MANGIAMO
VOI MANGIATE
LORO MANGIANO

Imperative tense
MANGIA (TU)
MANGIATE (VOI)
