Hi! I’m Marilyn, a native German speaker living near Cape Town since 2002 who helps students use German confidently in real-life situations, not just in textbooks.
I’ve taught children, teenagers, and adults from diverse countries and professional backgrounds, and I tailor each lesson to the individual learner. My approach combines structure, practicality, and a supportive atmosphere where mistakes are part of learning.
I focus on real-life communication, natural German, clear grammar explanations, targeted vocabulary, and useful expressions (Redemittel). My lessons are always aligned with your goals, from exams to work or everyday conversation.
Students value my patient, engaging style, clear grammar explanations, and personalised lessons. I believe progress happens best when learners feel supported, understood, and appropriately challenged.
I studied English, French, Spanish, Afrikaans, and isiXhosa and also worked in customer service and accounts for a German TV provider (2006–2020) for over a decade, developing strong communication and cultural awareness.
From 2010 to 2014, I hosted a German radio show, and I continue to work as a professional voice-over artist. This background allows me to place special emphasis on pronunciation, listening skills, and natural intonation in my lessons.
