How to get angry in a polite way

Hello dear students, how are you? I hope you're fine and happy. However, if you are angry because of anybody and anything, I'll give you the top 5 ways how you can express it and stay "cool" in Serbian at the same time.

1. Čujemo se - talk to you (literally "let's hear each other")
It is actually very polite and very nice way to reject somebody. If somebody tells you "čujemo se" it means that you annoyed him/her too much or made him/her feel angry because of something. DO NOT pay attention on the smile. Smile is very tricky sometimes because it helps us hide the real situation much better. We truly believe it is not necessary to explain a lot...if we say "čujemo se" you will figure out by the tone and facial expression what it is...and we do believe you know perfectly how and when you made us feel angry but you just pretend you do not know.
On the other hand, HR managers and business also use it a lot when they want to get rid of you. They will say something like "Thank you for your time and interest. Talk to you - čujemo se. "

2. Zbogom - farewell
Use it only if you are really hurt emotionally or physically because your anger is bigger so there is no space in your heart for this person any more (for example -- your husband/wife cheated on you with another man/woman, so of course, you will not hug your husband/wife, will you?) Because of that, you should say "zbogom" and if you add "zbogom zauvek - farewell forever" it is even better because with this "forever - zauvek" you will kill any hope that he/she might have.

3. Idi (informal) /idite (formal) u peršun. - Go to the parsley
I know it is nonsense at first side, but with this we wanted to skip a very bad language especially if we speak to someone and kids are near us. The kids learn so fast so it's not good if we use bad language. In that case when you say "go to the parsley" every adult person in Serbia will know what you had in your mind, don't worry. :D

4. Idi/idite bestraga - Go without any trace
It's slightly similar to "zbogom" because you say you are angry and you don't use any bad language. You can say it even when you're angry but you're not that angry so you want somebody to leave you forever, you just want this person away for some x period of time so that you can cool-off your brain and so that you can feel much better.

5. "Iskuliraj/iskulirajte me" - Literally "cool me off", but it actually means: "Leave me in alone"
This is a slang. It is because of the English language of course...so in English, the word "cool" is used very much in different meanings...like something positive and nice or something cold. However, in Serbian it works like that:
kulirati - to do nothing, just to ignore some things and to fee happy
so when we add the suffix IZ in front of "kulirati" we change Z to S because the consonants are changing according to the sound... so Z (strong sound) and K (soft sound) can not go together...so since S is also soft, it goes perfectly and that is how we get "Iskulirati" which would mean "ignore it completely, leave somebody alone. We say it when the topic bothers us or when you make us feel angry and annoyed etc. and we do not want to speak about that specific topic or we do not want to speak with you at all.
Another synonyms are: o'ladi (for informal speech only) and "ostavi / ostavite" me na miru - leave me in peace.

That's it for today, I hope you will find this article helpful and interesting.
PLEASE, don't learn bad language straight away, even if they are "fun" for you.
If you are so angry, try one of those phrases and impress Serbian people with your knowledge and with your educational level.

Have a nice day/evening.

Vidimo se - see you.

Hello, my name is Suzana. I'm from Serbia. I'm 36 years old. Firstly, I’m a professional language teacher. I’ve been working on Italki as a professional teacher for 1 year and six months (and I’ve been also working as an informal tutor for two years). Secondly, I’ve been working as a Serbian language expert for three years and three months: I created Serbian lessons and taught foreign people my native language. Third, I’ve been a translator for one year and six months: I translated English and Spanish lessons to Serbian. Also, I translated the synopses of the movies from English to Serbian. Finally, I'm a language expert who speaks many languages. I correct English, Spanish and Italian exercises, and I explain all grammar rules so that they can be understood by other people. My lessons are very creative, interesting and fun. I am going to teach you how to read, speak and write step by step. When you finish my Serbian classes, you're going to be ready to speak in Serbian without any...
