Merhaba! I am a native Turkish teacher from Istanbul with 15 years of teaching experience. I speak a proper, very polite Istanbul dialect, which is highly recommended. I am currently living in Portugal. I have lived in the past for a long period in the United States and Spain, so both English and Spanish may be used to support the teaching at a more productive pace. I research about the latest learning materials, customized to each student's personality and level, such as music, movies and easy-reading texts. I encourage my students to talk slowly and correctly, focusing on interesting subjects, actual news or their specialty areas. Sometimes we will read from articles and repeat after each other. Also, we will have entertaining dialog and anecdotes, but we will mainly concentrate on learning grammar and pronunciation. Merhaba! :) It has always been a passion for me to learn about different languages and cultures. From my personal experience, I can say that understanding a specific culture requires the ability of speaking the language. For instance, imagine yourself speaking Turkish while you are in Turkey, in restaurants, taxis, markets, shops... Your traveling experience becomes a completely different experience by interacting people in their native language. It helps you to socialize, bargain(!), to learn more about people and creates different perspectives in your mind. Even a "Merhaba" is highly appreciated in Turkey but if you choose having Turkish lessons with me, I can assure you to have longer conversations with Turkish people.
