Hello! Bonjour! Ciao! My name is Courtney and I'm from the United States. The study of language and culture has always been my passion! My primary objective as a teacher is to provide internal and external motivation to my students through cultural awareness, functional learning, and meaningful interaction with native speakers (in this case, ME!). I want to inspire students to use what they learn in class beyond their interactions in the classroom and to help them make connections with their own lives. Through these endeavors I believe that students not only grasp grammatical and syntactical concepts, but also draw a link between the importance of content and its direct application to functioning and succeeding on multiple levels within the community and beyond!
A little about me:
I am a certified teacher of French and English as a Second Language in the United States. I have a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Kentucky in French Studies, a Master of Arts in Teaching World Languages, a graduate certificate to teach French and English as a Second Language, and a post-Masters degree as Education Specialist (Ed.S.) from Northern Kentucky University. I have been teaching language for 10 years, but I also have experience working in translation for an international market forecasting company. I have lived abroad in France, where I taught English to high school students, and also in Italy and England. I speak French at an advanced level as well as Italian at an Upper Beginner level.
I hope to meet you soon and to help you create and succeed in your language goals!
