My name is Daniel Richardson and I am an English teacher in Bangkok, Thailand. I am originally from Bristol, England, nut moved to Thailand 15 years ago to pursue a career in teaching English as a second language. For the past 10 years I have been lecturing in English at a university in Bangkok, and before that I worked for a private language school.
I hold a TESOL Certificate in English language teaching and am educated to master degree level, although not in teaching related subjects.
I strongly believe the role of a language teacher is to facilitate the acquisition of language by preparing and implementing challenging task based activities for students. These tasks should be focused on specific objectives and lead to some form of creation or production on behalf of the student. These materials can be analysed and evaluated by the teacher and constructive feedback given.
My teaching style is professional but relaxed. In my experience, students perform best when they feel respected and are unafraid to make mistakes. I attempt to cultivate this atmosphere in all lessons through careful preparation, goal setting, and my verbal and non-verbal communication with students.
