My name is Anisha and I am a native English speaker from London! 😊
I have a BSc in English Language, which involved an integrated Erasmus year teaching English to primary and secondary age students in Spain, for whom English was not their first language. During this time, I worked with students on a wide range of linguistic aspects such as pronunciation, grammar, spelling and vocabulary, but I also worked as a private tutor for adult learners, helping to improve the spoken English level of those preparing for ESOL or IELTS examinations. Having the experience of trying to learn Spanish as a native English speaker, I am familiar with the obstacles that foreign language learners can face and thus I am keen to provide a comfortable learning environment where students are enabled to communicate with confidence, comfort and ease.
I am a keen, patient and bubbly teacher, whose expertise lie within conversational teaching, where I encourage the discussion of a range of different and interesting topics to enable students to practice their spoken English. I believe strongly in flexible teaching and getting to know my students (e.g. their English level, preferred method for learning, their goals, etc.) so that lessons can be adapted and personalised to each individual student. I aim for conversations to be as natural as possible and for students to feel comfortable enough to make errors during them. I do this by promoting positive learning and providing students with gentle correctional reminders along the way, so they are not discouraged by their mistakes. My abilities as a former linguistics student can also extend to proofreading and editing texts, aiding with job preparation (e.g. interviews) and helping with written English for several purposes.
So, if you want to practice and improve your English, whilst having a fun easy-going conversation then let’s get started today!
