I was trained as a teacher of Italian as a second language and have a PhD in Cognitive Linguistics. I love and cherish the Italian language both for its beauty and for the rich culture it embodies.
In my opinion, each student deserves a teaching tailored on their motivation and learning objectives: some want to learn Italian because they like visiting Italy as tourists, some are attracted to Italian because of their family’s roots, some just like Italian cuisine or music and so on. A classroom environment, however lively and engaging, tends to require a one-size-fits-all teaching approach. By contrast, as a private language teacher, I always do my best to suit both my content and my methods to my student’s needs.
I speak fluent English and I am happy to teach in either English or Italian, depending on a student’s starting level and personal preferences.
