I have been working on my languages skills in the sense of tutoring and teaching others ever since I was in high school or for 20 years more or less. I started learning English when I was nine years old, German at the age of 12 and Spanish at age 17. French is my native language, I also speak Abbey, my African language (Abbey) from Ivory Coast, and I am currently learning Portuguese. I love languages and they come naturally to me. I love teaching others, and it is easy for me to do so because I truly enjoy what I do. I have a passion for languages.
I have Undergraduate Degrees in International Studies and Spanish as well as a Graduate Degree (Master's of Public Administrations) from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte) . I currently teach Spanish, French, And ESL English. I also contract my language services out to local language schools, private students, and online tutoring organizations. I also provide translation and interpretation services to local organizations in the language pairs of Spanish-English, English Spanish, French- English, and English - French.
My language sessions are very conversational and hands on from the very start. The goal when learning a language is to be able to eventually speak it and be fluent in it. So even though, we learn the rules and grammar, and vocabulary, there is a lot of speaking involved. I use every exercise as well as texts and audio exercises as a conversation topic. I simply believe that the best way to learn a language is to be immersed in it and so I use every opportunity that I get to challenge my students and to get them to speak the language. This is all done in a fun away.
In addition, I strongly encourage my students to use complete statements and sentences when speaking and responding in class as opposed to giving me one-word responses or statements because they will remember the grammar and vocabulary faster by simply applying and using them. Learning a language is very fun especially when you have an engaging instructor.
