عيد ميلاد مجيد Merry Christmas

Today my Arabic teacher wished me a Merry Christmas at the end of the lesson. I must say that I was very touched. It is the first time that a Muslim told me that. I am studying Arabic since a couple of years, the previous teachers (including my Syrian language partner here in my hometown) only told me how to wish to somebody else a Merry Christmas but never greeted me for this Christian festival, are they afraid to be considered blasphemous?

I usually wish a happy festival to people from different cultures or religions,  Ramadan, (رمضان )، Hanouka ( חג החנוכה) or Diwali (  दीपावली) 
Am I doing wrong?
