Has anyone learned a new language using visual tools?

Hello there!

I'm a graphic designer, also a doctoral student designing different and (hopefully) innovative ways to learn languages using visual tools. I have carried out a couple of studies using scenarios/personas method (a bit like process drama), and diagrams (cognitive maps) to enhance learners' own learning strategies.

Has anybody tried anything like it in this environment?
