What method suits you the most? Students/Tutors

I have been teaching French for a while now and it's obvious to me at this point that every student needs a particular approach depending on what he wants to achieve.
Do you prefer Lesson-Exercise-Question or do you focus more on dialogues ...etc ? 

I would love to hear your opinions whether you're teaching or learning French,English or any other language.
