When you say something and I don't follow, I tell you. Not because your grammar is wrong. Because I genuinely didn't understand. So you have to find another way. Different words, different structure, different angle. And in that moment of searching, something happens that correction never produces — you solve the problem yourself.
Then, when you've found your way through and I understand you, if there's a more precise or powerful way to say what you just fought to express — a phrase a native speaker would reach for naturally in that situation — I give it to you right there. You'll remember it. Not because you wrote it down. Because you just spent several seconds needing it.
