Hello, everyone! My name is Mark, and I am from Washington, D.C. I have been working as an Editor and Writer for more than 20 years, and I am a published author of eight books. I graduated with a Bachelor Degree in English from the University of Maryland. I have training in tutoring/teaching English as a second language. In addition to my experience and education, I have a passion for studying languages. I understand the difficulties language students face, especially when it comes to listening skills.

My philosophy is to teach English with everyday conversation. This can be fun! Together we will pick a topic (art, film, literature, sports, science, current events), and while we talk I will guide you to better understand English and all its quirks. But our conversations will not be without structure. I believe in the “graduated interval recall” method, which emphasizes memorization through listening and speaking. Each lesson I will introduce new phrases and vocabulary, while I help you recall previous conversations. Listening is key to talking like a local. I am a laid-back and entertaining teacher, so don't worry about making mistakes. I look forward to meeting you and sharing our life experiences and knowledge through language lessons.
