My name is Liya. I'm from Connecticut, a state in the northern U.S. I received by BA from the Ivy League university, the University of Pennsylvania, and I graduated this spring with my masters degree (MPhil) from the University of Cambridge in the U.K.
My experience is not just teaching on Verbling! I also taught English to refugee children when I was living in Moscow, Russia. I've lived in Switzerland, England, and Russia, and studied French and Russian in school, so I know how difficult it can be to learn a foreign language.
My specialities are speaking and listening practice to a high intellectual standard, as well as editing documents or papers. I love lessons that we can have a conversation, whether it be free or structured around a theme each time to improve your knowledge about art, politics, travel, literature and more.
I hope to have clear and helpful lessons ranging from basic vocabulary, to slang, idioms and nuances of the language that is hard to pick up simply from a book. We will develop a lesson plan together that is completely personalized. The goal is to get you speaking at a level for an American university, or British university like Cambridge or Oxford.
If you are looking for paper or writing editing help, please also send me a message and I can help with that for the same price per hour.
