I am 24 years old and live in my native state of West Virginia. I enjoy literature, history, politics, animation, and (of course) language learning. I It's a great pleasure to learn about other cultures from my students. I hope that we can meet soon!
I specialize in working with students at the B1 level or higher. I work mostly with native Spanish speakers learning ESL. I have experience tutoring for standardized tests, academic essays, business English, conversation, accent reduction, and general ESL.
In addition to ESL work, I teach Spanish and work at a blind school. I hold a B.A. in English, and I am currently taking classes toward an M.A. in Blind Education. I have tutored ESL for two years, taught English Language Arts in a private high school for one year, and middle-school English for a year as well. I also have experience teaching social studies and math, with multiple endorsements.
Each of my lessons include practice in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. I use a variety of authentic materials to help students learn language in context. I develop lessons and units based on each individual students needs. My teaching philosophy is most inspired by John Gregory Milton's "Seven Laws of Teaching."
