I am a 27 year old english teacher based in the south of Brazil. I've worked with tutoring and education throughout my professional life in both Brazil and the U.S., teaching people of all ages and many different nationalities. Previously, as an engineering student, I struggled to find a purpose and feel at peace with what I was doing. With language teaching however, I feel much more fulfilled knowing that my job is all about spreading knowledge and information to others, as well as promoting cultural exchange. This is personally important to me as someone with a diverse background and members from three different countries in my immediate family unit. As for my teaching style, I like to form connections with my students and tailor classes to students' hobbies and interests, because it's normally easier to learn when the content is relevant to what students actually care about and would talk about in English once fluency is achieved. In my opinion, one of the major obstacles that gets in the way of fluency is a lack of confidence. Students often worry about making mistakes or sounding silly and sometimes avoid using new vocabulary or structures that they aren't yet comfortable with. My objective is to always make students feel at ease so they can be bold with their attempts to speak English and challenge themselves in the most effective way.
