Hi, I'm Marcio. I'm Brazilian and I have been working as an ESL teacher for about 7 years.
Before that, I worked in airlines call centres acknowledging calls in English and providing assistance and at the airport as a check in agent too, for about 6 months.
Before getting a Bachelor's degree in languages I was also an undergraduate in Philosophy for 4 years.
I have a certificate of proficiency from Cambridge, the CPE, which I got back in 98.
I enjoy Arts, especially Music, Culture, History, Literature and Philosophy. I have started learning a little Mandarin on my own, since I have been living in Taiwan and it's my will to keep learning it.
For a year I worked proofreading English and Portuguese in a publishing company dealing with pharmaceuticals and Law material. I describe myself as being sympathetic and understanding as well as polite and patient.
I believe learning must balanced between real life scenarios and academic literature, as well as common sense, taking into account what a student intends to absorb as a second language. This is my strategical approach to language, what other people might understand as tailoring for one's needs.
