Hello, my name is Alaina and I live in Spain, but am from the US. I am from Pennsylvania, from a small city called Erie which is right next to Lake Erie. I have been living in Spain for four years, in a city called Palencia, which is 3 hours north of Madrid. I speak fluent Spanish (C2). I have always been interested in languages, starting with Spanish and continuing with Portuguese now. In the future I intend to study Italian and Polish, as my great grandparents immigrated from these countries to the U.S. many years ago. In my free time, I like to read, practice foreign languages, and go to the gym.

I studied Spanish and Journalism for my undergraduate degrees, and then attained a Master's degree in Hispanic literature. While pursuing my Master's, I taught university-level Spanish classes. Since living in Spain, I have gained experience teaching English as a second language to all ages. I taught for two years at the high school level, and then a year in a grade school. I also worked at an English academy giving lessons to adults and preschool-aged children.

Since I have experience with all levels of English and Spanish, I am comfortable teaching from beginning to advanced learners in both languages. I can customize grammar lessons, or simply have a more relaxed class where we can practice speaking. I think it's important to have fun while learning, and we can play games or role play to practice as well. It's essential that the student have the type of lesson they want, which is why I customize lessons to each student. See you soon, hasta pronto!
