Hi! My name is Katya. I am from Saint Petersburg, Russia. I have a BA in philology and an MA in sociolinguistics and anthropology. Currently I live in Prague, Czech Republic, and I am doing my PhD here. I have quite some experience in online education both as a teacher and as a student since I am also currently taking an online degree course in psychology. In my teaching, I always try to keep up with my standards of proper teaching which means being attentive to the student's individual goals and learning style, keeping the lessons balanced and covering all the domains of the language learning process, and making the learning process both useful and enjoyable. I believe that successful language learning depends on three major aspects: 1) the confident knowledge of basic grammar which helps you feel secure and be able to express yourself in any circumstances (even if you don't know a word or are a bit stressed out); 2) lexicon and idiomatic expressions which allow you to become step by step more eloquent and confident in all the life situations you need the language for; 3) the active communication skills which include acquiring technical skills in phonetics (being able to articulate the sounds of the language without constantly focusing on those), active listening skills allowing you to understand and properly react to the speech flow of the native speakers, and overcoming the individual psychological blocks regarding the language use (the language barrier). In my classes we will make sure that you succeed in all these things! I am looking forward to our cooperation!
