Hello!
My name is Daniel Barnett. I am a native speaking American with a neutral accent, as well as an experienced and certified teacher. I have teaching endorsements in TESOL, TESL, and TEFL. Furthermore, I also have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in dual majors in Business Administration and a second major in Economics.
I am a life-long learner and teacher. Education is my passion. I have been teaching, training, coaching, tutoring, mentoring, and managing both children and adults for more than 20 years throughout my professional career in a variety of teaching and tutoring capacities and settings. I have lived and taught English in China (Xián, Fuping, & Yanliang) for over a year and a half. I am very aware and well-versed in the Chinese culture as well as both the public and private education systems.
Overall, I have more than 10 years of experience in the physical classroom, including 18 months in Chinese schools and learning centers; was employed as a Corporate Trainer for 10+ years; a public high school substitute teacher for 3 years; and have more than 5 years of recent experience as a Language Instructor with online teaching venues on a variety of platforms and applications.
My favorite students are young learners at the Primary and Elementary School levels. However, I have also taught Adults, University, and High School students in an array of classes in Conversational English, Basic/Advanced Grammar, Business English, Pronunciation, Writing, IELTS/TOEFL test preparation, and General English. I am equally comfortable and a highly effective teacher with both the physical classroom as well as teaching online.
Some of my favorite hobbies are Health/Physical Fitness, Baseball, Running, Hiking, Exploring, Reading, Traveling, and Learning new things.
I am an extremely “results-oriented” teacher; deeply caring more about each pupil learning the material, and the progress and improvement of my students; rather than getting to the last page in the lesson or finishing the chapter quickly. I focus on positive progress and results, not page numbers. I am likewise extremely patient, caring, considerate, and a kind teacher. However, I take teaching English in my classes as a very serious and focused matter.
