My name is Darby and I have been teaching for nearly a decade now. The moment I began teaching, as a kindergarten teacher's assistant in high school, I loved it. I continued tutoring and being a teacher's assistant for Spanish in college. I then lived in China for three years where I learned Mandarin and taught English. Since then I have completed my doctorate degree in Architecture. I am an anthropologist by training, which means that I am constantly observing others and acutely aware of the learning styles of my students. I try to mix up my teaching approach as much as possible so I'm not using any one method over and over. I am extremely passionate about teaching and try to immerse myself as much as possible when learning a language. I am now learning my fifth language (since I used to speak Hindi), American Sign Language and have been really loving learning it and more about the deaf community. In addition to teaching English I also teach Spanish and Mandarin.
