If you feel that the Russian case system is a mess, and the verbal aspect makes you cringe, but you still want to speak Russian with native speakers and watch Russian movies without subtitles, I could help you.
I have an MA degree in linguistics (San Francisco State University, 2016), which is a science about language structures. My expertise helps me explain you how the Russian language works as a system. I make sure my students get this impression form my classes:
"I like that she explains things really clearly and methodically". (Richard, engineer, USA)
In our classes we will focus on the language that you need, with an emphasis on speaking and grammar. We will use textbooks and authentic Russian texts, so you will be getting a comprehensive and structured explanation of the theory and a lot of real examples.
Once you schedule a trial lesson, I will send you a comprehensive level test in order to get an idea about your level of grammar and vocabulary. During the trial lesson, I will estimate your speaking ability and highlight the areas that you need to work on. Together we will create an action plan, pinning down the topics you would like to be talking about in Russian. Our goal here is that you enjoy learning Russian and keep progressing every single day. We will use different tools for language immersion: podcasts, songs, videos, articles, and so on, so you will use Russian as often as you can, to get better results.
Even if you end up not taking classes with me, you will still have a good understanding of you level and the weakness areas where you need to improve.
I have taught students of different levels and backgrounds, and I would be happy to help you, just like I helped Francie:
"Irina is wonderful!! So knowledgeable in linguistics, as well as a patient and good-humored instructor. Couldn't say enough good things". (Francie, filmmaker, USA)
